Baths of Palestrina

Located near the capital city, the Baths of Palestrina enjoy a worldwide fame thanks to the particular water that flows through a tunnel of 200 meters excavated by the ancient Romans to help the flow of mineral water filtered through the rocks.
Also known as Fonte Ceciliana, the Baths of Palestrina are one of the top regional facilities and can boast an unrivalled therapeutic tradition supported by centuries of implementations and innovations.

The thermal water of the Baths of Palestrina flows from a long tunnel (200 metres) excavated in the tuff during the Imperial Rome time. It is collected by dripping and delivered by eight outlets. The Romans dedicated it to the gods Aesculapius and Hygieia and emperor Augustus treated his disorders with the water of this source.
It mainly an oligomineral water.

At the Baths of Palestrina urinary, liver and metabolic disorders are treated together with obesity.

Palestrina is a town situated on the slopes of Mount Ginestro, on the ruins of the ancient Praeneste, a Latin town formerly renowned for the sanctuary of Fortuna Primigenia, dating back to the last decades of the second century B.C. The site boasts several buildings of historical and cultural interest, from the Cathedral of Sant’Agapito to the Palazzo Colonna Barberini. It is worth mentioning, in the surrounding area, the Roman Castles; to fully enjoy this area, the gastronomic itineraries should be combined with the naturalistic ones.
