Located in the heart of the Pisane Hills, Casciana Terme is a pleasant village which can be the proud holder of a millennial history, began with first Etruscan settlements and continued in Roman age thanks to the massive building work, able to lay the foundations for a splendour future of the municipality, definitely acquired throughout the Middle Ages and Renaissance.
The first thermal facility of Casciana has ancient origins and was built in 1311 by Federico of Montefeltro, whose genial intuition transformed the small municipality in a renowned healing oasis, inaugurating a very long thermal tradition still jealousy safeguard by the citizens and implemented through continuous restoration.
DA VISITARE
Casciana is a small town surrounded by green hills among woods, olive tree groves and vineyards. We suggest to take a break in the neighbourhoods, in the villages of Sant’Ermo, Collemontanino, Parlascio and Ceppato. Pisa is only 35 km away and certainly it is worth a visit. Surely interesting are also Volterra, of Etruscan origin, Val di Cecina and Val d’Era, which boasts villages, castles and noble villas. In order to fully enjoyed the region, we suggest to take a stop-over to Lucca (at 45 km), San Gimignano and Florence (at 75 km).
