Among the major economic and touristic centres of the province of Pisa, San Giuliano Terme was known with nicknames of Aquae Pisane and Bagni di Pisa, names used to underline the centrality of the hydro element in the local life and the importance of the precious mineral sources which flow from the soil of the rich Tuscan country.
Already known and loved since the Etruscan and ancient Roman age, the Baths of Bagni di Pisa became an important therapeutic noble centre in 1743, where Francis I, Grand Duke of Tuscany, made it as its own summer thermal residence, contributing to the diffusion of the international prestige of one of the most appreciated and celebrated thermal structure of the variegated European thermal industry.
DA VISITARE
San Giuliano Terme is a country of the province of Pisa, situated between the Serchio and Arno rivers. The site is interesting from an artistic and naturalistic point of view. The architecture lovers cannot miss the eighteenth-century villas of the Lungomonte. The Regional Park of Migliarino San Rossore Massaciuccoli is the ideal for those who love the contact with nature; in the neighbourhoods there are also the Archaeological Park of Montecastellare and Valle delle Fonti of Asciano. We also suggest a stop-over to Pisa.
